SPICE Workshop on Unconventional Superconductors and Magnets May 12th - 14th, 2026

In this talk, I introduce a new approach to probing superconductivity through magnon sensing. We fabricate a heterostructure consisting of a van der Waals magnet coupled to a high-Tc superconductor. Using transient magneto-optical spectroscopy, we track magnon propagation and extract their group velocity. We show that magnon transport provides a sensitive probe of the superfluid density in the adjacent superconductor through dipole–dipole interactions. The magnetic-field dependence further reveals signatures consistent with a Berezinskii–Kosterlitz–Thouless transition. These results establish magnons as a new lens for probing superconducting order.
