Spin based properties, applications, and devices are commonly related to magnetic effects and to
magnetic materials. However, we established that chiral organic molecules or chiral inorganic
materials can act as spin filters for photoelectrons transmission, in electron transfer, and in electron
transport. Explaining the effect is a challenge due to the need to consider phenomena beyond those
accounted in the Born Oppenheimer approximation. Experiments demonstrating these phenomena
will be described.
