Optical signatures of quantum skyrmions

Nanoscale magnetic skyrmions are theoretically proposed as qubits, however experimentally quantum features of skyrmions are not yet observed. We propose Brillouin light scattering (BLS) as a quantum probe, and identify asymmetries in the quantum BLS spectrum which are not present for a classical skyrmion. These asymmetries are large at cryogenic temperatures and if measured, will provide a strong evidence for non-classical dynamics of skyrmions.
