Topological states in confined ferroic nanostructures

Svitlana Kondovych

I will talk about emergent topological states, – domain walls, vortices, merons, skyrmions, and Hopfions, – in nanostructured ferromagnetic and ferroelectric materials. I will explain how the interplay between the magneto- (electro-)static and confinement effects leads to the formation of chiral topological textures even in the absence of the Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction, and give the introduction to analytical description of topological ferroic states.
